This patch replaces get_ticks_per_sec() calls with the macro NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND. Also, as there are no callers, get_ticks_per_sec() is then removed. This replacement improves the readability and understandability of code. For example, timer_mod(fdctrl->result_timer, qemu_clock_get_ns(QEMU_CLOCK_VIRTUAL) + (get_ticks_per_sec() / 50)); NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND makes it obvious that qemu_clock_get_ns matches the unit of the expression on the right side of the plus. 2016-03-22include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.hMarkus Armbruster8-0/+8
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h, compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a similar job to this file and are under similar constraints." qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of 100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need. Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List. Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h, sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h comment quoted above similarly. This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. Simple unions were carrying a special case that hid their 'data' QMP member from the resulting C struct, via the hack method QAPISchemaObjectTypeVariant.simple_union_type(). Using the implicit type also lets us get rid of the simple_union_type() hack. Of course, now all clients of simple unions have to adjust from using su->u.member to using su->u.member.data; while this touches a number of files in the tree, some earlier cleanup patches helped minimize the change to the initialization of a temporary variable rather than every single member access. Commit d0d7708b made ChardevDummy be an empty wrapper type around ChardevCommon. But there is no technical reason for this indirection, so simplify the code by directly using the base type. 2016-03-03rng: add request queue support to rng-randomLadi Prosek3-39/+33
Requests are now created in the RngBackend parent class and the code path is shared by both rng-egd and rng-random. This commit fixes the rng-random implementation which processed only one request at a time and simply discarded all but the most recent one. In the guest this manifested as delayed completion of reads from virtio-rng, i.e. a read was completed only after another read was issued. By switching rng-random to use the same request queue as rng-egd, the unsafe stack-based allocation of the entropy buffer is eliminated and replaced with g_malloc. 2016-02-08qapi: Swap visit_* arguments for consistent 'name' placementEric Blake1-4/+4
JSON uses "name":value, but many of our visitor interfaces were called with visit_type_FOO(v, &value, name, errp). This can be a bit confusing to have to mentally swap the parameter order to match JSON order. It's particularly bad for visit_start_struct(), where the 'name' parameter is smack in the middle of the otherwise-related group of 'obj, kind, size' parameters! It's time to do a global swap of the parameter ordering, so that the 'name' parameter is always immediately after the Visitor argument. Additional reason in favor of the swap: the existing include/qjson.h prefers listing 'name' first in json_prop_*(), and I have plans to unify that file with the qapi visitors; listing 'name' first in qapi will minimize churn to the (admittedly few) qjson.h clients. Later patches will then fix docs, object.h, visitor-impl.h, and those clients to match. 2016-01-15qemu-char: add logfile facility to all chardev backendsDaniel P. Berrange2-2/+11
Typically a UNIX guest OS will log boot messages to a serial port in addition to any graphical console. An admin user may also wish to use the serial port for an interactive console. A virtualization management system may wish to collect system boot messages by logging the serial port, but also wish to allow admins interactive access. Currently providing such a feature forces the mgmt app to either provide 2 separate serial ports, one for logging boot messages and one for interactive console login, or to proxy all output via a separate service that can multiplex the two needs onto one serial port. While both are valid approaches, they each have their own downsides. The former causes confusion and extra setup work for VM admins creating disk images. The latter places an extra burden to re-implement much of the QEMU chardev backends logic in libvirt or even higher level mgmt apps and adds extra hops in the data transfer path. A simpler approach that is satisfactory for many use cases is to allow the QEMU chardev backends to have a "logfile" property associated with them. $QEMU -chardev socket,host=localhost,port=9000,\ server=on,nowait,id-charserial0,\ logfile=/var/log/libvirt/qemu/test-serial0.log -device isa-serial,chardev=charserial0,id=serial0 This patch introduces a 'ChardevCommon' struct which is setup as a base for all the ChardevBackend types. Ideally this would be registered directly as a base against ChardevBackend, rather than each type, but the QAPI generator doesn't allow that since the ChardevBackend is a non-discriminated union. The ChardevCommon struct provides the optional 'logfile' parameter, as well as 'logappend' which controls whether QEMU truncates or appends (default truncate). Signed-off-by: Daniel P. 2015-11-23hostmem: Ignore ENOSYS while setting MPOL_DEFAULTPavel Fedin1-3/+5
Currently hostmem backend fails if CONFIG_NUMA is enabled in QEMU (the default) but NUMA is not supported by the kernel. This makes it impossible to use ivshmem in such configurations. This patch fixes the problem by ignoring ENOSYS error if policy is set to MPOL_DEFAULT. This way the code behaves in the same way as if CONFIG_NUMA was not defined. qemu will still fail if the user specifies some other policy, so that the user knows it. g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n). It's also safer, for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t. Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch more type errors. This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form sizeof(T). Same Coccinelle semantic patch as in commit b45c03f. TPM TIS for TPM 2 introduced the following extensions beyond the TPM TIS 1.3 (used for TPM 1.2): - A new 32bit interface Id register was introduced. - New flags for the status (STS) register were defined. - New flags for the capability flags were defined. Support the above if a TPM TIS 1.3 for TPM 2 is used with a TPM 2 on the backend side. Support the old TPM TIS 1.3 configuration if a TPM 1.2 is being used. When memory is allocated on a wrong node, MPOL_MF_STRICT doesn't move it - it just fails the allocation. A simple way to reproduce the failure is with mlock=on realtime feature. From: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com> chr-testdev enables a virtio serial channel to be used for guest initiated qemu exits. hw/misc/debugexit already enables guest initiated qemu exits, but only for PC targets. chr-testdev supports any virtio-capable target. kvm-unit-tests/arm is already making use of this backend. Currently there is a single command implemented, "q". It takes a (prefix) argument for the exit code, thus an exit is implemented by writing, e.g. "1q", to the virtio-serial port. It can be used as: $QEMU ... \ -device virtio-serial-device \ -device virtserialport,chardev=ctd -chardev testdev,id=ctd or, use: $QEMU ... \ -device virtio-serial-device \ -device virtconsole,chardev=ctd -chardev testdev,id=ctd to bind it to virtio-serial port0.
