2013-01-15Make default boot order machine specificAvik Sil1-0/+2
This patch makes default boot order machine specific instead of set globally. The default boot order can be set per machine in QEMUMachine boot_order. This also allows a machine to receive a NULL boot order when -boot isn't used and take an appropriate action accordingly. This helps machine boots from the devices as set in guest's non-volatile memory location in case no boot order is provided by the user. Move public headers to include/net, and leave private headers in net/. Put the virtio headers in include/net/tap.h, removing the multiple copies that existed. 2012-12-11Support default block interfaces per QEMUMachineChristian Borntraeger1-2/+2
There are QEMUMachines that have neither IF_IDE nor IF_SCSI as a default/standard interface to their block devices / drives. Therefore, this patch introduces a new field default_block_type per QEMUMachine struct. The prior use_scsi field becomes thereby obsolete and is replaced through .default_block_type = IF_SCSI. This patch also changes the default for s390x to IF_VIRTIO and removes an early hack that converts IF_IDE drives. Other parties have already claimed interest (e.g. IF_SD for exynos) To create a sane default, for machines that dont specify a default_block_type, this patch makes IF_IDE = 0 and IF_NONE = 1. I checked all users of IF_NONE (blockdev.c and ww/device-hotplug.c) as well as IF_IDE and it seems that it is ok to change the defines - in other words, I found no obvious (to me) assumption in the code regarding IF_NONE==0. IF_NONE is only set if there is an explicit if=none. Without if=* the interface becomes IF_DEFAULT. I would suggest to have some additional care, e.g. by letting this patch sit some days in the block tree. target_phys_addr_t is unwieldly, violates the C standard (_t suffixes are reserved) and its purpose doesn't match the name (most target_phys_addr_t addresses are not target specific). Replace it with a finger-friendly, standards conformant hwaddr. This should help us to: - More easily add or remove machine initialization arguments without having to change every single machine init function; - More easily make mechanical changes involving the machine init functions in the future; - Let machine initialization forward the init arguments to other functions more easily. This change was half-mechanical process: first the struct was added with the local ram_size, boot_device, kernel_*, initrd_*, and cpu_model local variable initialization to all functions. 2012-08-02Support 'help' as a synonym for '?' in command line optionsPeter Maydell1-1/+1
For command line options which permit '?' meaning 'please list the permitted values', add support for 'help' as a synonym, by abstracting the check out into a helper function. This change means that in some cases where we were being lazy in our string parsing, "?junk" will now be rejected as an invalid option rather than being (undocumentedly) treated the same way as "?". Update the documentation to use 'help' rather than '?', since '?' is a shell metacharacter and thus prone to fail confusingly if there is a single character filename in the current working directory and the '?' has not been escaped. It's therefore better to steer users towards 'help', though '?' is retained for backwards compatibility. We do not, however, update the output of the system emulator's -help (or any documentation autogenerated from the qemu-options.hx which is the source of the -help text) because libvirt parses our -help output and will break. At a later date when QEMU provides a better interface so libvirt can avoid having to do this, we can update the -help text too. HPET legacy emulation will require control over the PIT IRQ output. To enable this, add support for an alternative IRQ output object to the PIT factory function. If the isa_irq number is < 0, this object will be used. This also removes the IRQ number property from the PIT class as we now use a generic GPIO output pin that is connected by the factory function. Currently creating a memory region automatically registers it for live migration. This differs from other state (which is enumerated in a VMStateDescription structure) and ties the live migration code into the memory core. Decouple the two by introducing a separate API, vmstate_register_ram(), for registering a RAM block for migration. As stated before, devices can be little, big or native endian. The target endianness is not of their concern, so we need to push things down a level. This patch adds a parameter to cpu_register_io_memory that allows a device to choose its endianness. For now, all devices simply choose native endian, because that's the same behavior as before. 2010-09-11ESP: fix ESP DMA access when DMA is not enabledBlue Swirl1-2/+2
Sending ESP a command caused it to trigger DMA immediately even if DMA was not enabled at the DMA controller. Add a signal from DMA controller to ESP to tell ESP about changes in DMA enable bit. Also use the correct function for setting up GPIO outputs. This fixes NetBSD 1.6.1 through 3.0 boot. Thanks to Artyom Tarasenko for extensive debugging of the problem. 2010-06-13hpet/rtc: Rework RTC IRQ replacement by HPETJan Kiszka1-1/+1
Allow the intercept the RTC IRQ for the HPET legacy mode. Then push routing to IRQ8 completely into the HPET. This allows to turn hpet_in_legacy_mode() into a private function. Furthermore, this stops the RTC from clearing IRQ8 even if the HPET is in control. This patch comes with a side effect: The RTC timers will no longer be stoppend when there is no IRQ consumer, possibly causing a minor performance degration. But as the guest may want to redirect the RTC to the SCI in that mode, it should normally disable unused IRQ source anyway.
