2013-01-15Make default boot order machine specificAvik Sil1-0/+1
This patch makes default boot order machine specific instead of set globally. The default boot order can be set per machine in QEMUMachine boot_order. This also allows a machine to receive a NULL boot order when -boot isn't used and take an appropriate action accordingly. This helps machine boots from the devices as set in guest's non-volatile memory location in case no boot order is provided by the user. Move public headers to include/net, and leave private headers in net/. Put the virtio headers in include/net/tap.h, removing the multiple copies that existed. target_phys_addr_t is unwieldly, violates the C standard (_t suffixes are reserved) and its purpose doesn't match the name (most target_phys_addr_t addresses are not target specific). Replace it with a finger-friendly, standards conformant hwaddr. This should help us to: - More easily add or remove machine initialization arguments without having to change every single machine init function; - More easily make mechanical changes involving the machine init functions in the future; - Let machine initialization forward the init arguments to other functions more easily. This change was half-mechanical process: first the struct was added with the local ram_size, boot_device, kernel_*, initrd_*, and cpu_model local variable initialization to all functions. HPET legacy emulation will require control over the PIT IRQ output. To enable this, add support for an alternative IRQ output object to the PIT factory function. If the isa_irq number is < 0, this object will be used. This also removes the IRQ number property from the PIT class as we now use a generic GPIO output pin that is connected by the factory function. 2012-01-04vmstate, memory: decouple vmstate from memory APIAvi Kivity1-2/+4
Currently creating a memory region automatically registers it for live migration. This differs from other state (which is enumerated in a VMStateDescription structure) and ties the live migration code into the memory core. Decouple the two by introducing a separate API, vmstate_register_ram(), for registering a RAM block for migration. cfi02 is annoying in that is ignores some address bits; we probably want explicit support in the memory API for that. In order to get the correct opaque into the MemoryRegion object, the allocation scheme is changed so that the flash emulation code allocates memory, instead of the caller. As stated before, devices can be little, big or native endian. The target endianness is not of their concern, so we need to push things down a level. This patch adds a parameter to cpu_register_io_memory that allows a device to choose its endianness. For now, all devices simply choose native endian, because that's the same behavior as before. 2010-06-13hpet/rtc: Rework RTC IRQ replacement by HPETJan Kiszka1-1/+1
Allow the intercept the RTC IRQ for the HPET legacy mode. Then push routing to IRQ8 completely into the HPET. This allows to turn hpet_in_legacy_mode() into a private function. Furthermore, this stops the RTC from clearing IRQ8 even if the HPET is in control. This patch comes with a side effect: The RTC timers will no longer be stoppend when there is no IRQ consumer, possibly causing a minor performance degration. But as the guest may want to redirect the RTC to the SCI in that mode, it should normally disable unused IRQ source anyway. 2010-03-16load_elf: replace the address addend by a translation functionAurelien Jarno1-10/+7
A few machines need to translate the ELF header addresses into physical addresses. Currently the only possibility is to add a value to the addresses. This patch replaces the addend argument by and a translation function and an opaque passed to the function. A NULL function does not translate the address. The patch also convert all machines that have an addend, simplify the PowerPC kernel loading and fix the MIPS kernel loading using this new feature. Other machines may benefit from this feature. Changes: (1) register pstrcpy_targphys() in rom list, it is used for kernel command lines by a number of architectures. (2) add rom_ptr() function to get a pointer for applying changes to loaded images. Needed for example to tell the linux kernel where it finds the initrd image by updating the header. That are all serial_init() users except mips_mipssim() which seems to have a non-standard IRQ windup. baud rate is fixed at 115200 now as no caller passed in something else. Callers must pass ELF machine, byte swapping and symbol LSB clearing information to ELF loader. A.out loader needs page size information, pass that too as a parameter. Extract prototypes to a separate file. Move loader.[ch] and elf_ops.h under hw. Adjust callers. Also use target_phys_addr_t instead of target_ulong for addresses: loader addresses aren't virtual.
