2017-09-04qapi-schema: Improve section headingsMarkus Armbruster1-1/+1
The generated QEMU QMP reference is now structured as follows: 1.1 Introduction 1.2 Stability Considerations 1.3 Common data types 1.4 Socket data types 1.5 VM run state 1.6 Cryptography 1.7 Block devices 1.7.1 Block core (VM unrelated) 1.7.2 QAPI block definitions (vm unrelated) 1.8 Character devices 1.9 Net devices 1.10 Rocker switch device 1.11 TPM (trusted platform module) devices 1.12 Remote desktop 1.12.1 Spice 1.12.2 VNC 1.13 Input 1.14 Migration 1.15 Transactions 1.16 Tracing 1.17 QMP introspection 1.18 Miscellanea Section "1.18 Miscellanea" is still too big: it documents 134 symbols. Section "1.7.1 Block core (VM unrelated)" is also rather big: 128 symbols. All the others are of reasonable size. 2017-09-04qapi-schema: Move queries from common.json to qapi-schema.jsonMarkus Armbruster1-103/+0

2017-09-04qapi-schema: Make block-core.json self-containedMarkus Armbruster1-0/+14
Except for block-core.json, the sub-schemas are self-contained: if they use a symbol defined in another sub-schema, they include that sub-schema. To check, feed the sub-schema to qapi2texi (or any other QAPI generator) along with the pragma from qapi-schema.json. Fix up things to make block-core.json self-contained, too. 2017-07-11block: remove all encryption handling APIsDaniel P. Berrange1-4/+1
Now that all encryption keys must be provided upfront via the QCryptoSecret API and associated block driver properties there is no need for any explicit encryption handling APIs in the block layer. Encryption can be handled transparently within the block driver. We only retain an API for querying whether an image is encrypted or not, since that is a potentially useful piece of metadata to report to the user. 2015-12-17kvm: add support for -machine kernel_irqchip=splitMatt Gingell1-0/+16

2015-12-17qapi: Add alias for ErrorClassEric Blake1-2/+3
The qapi enum ErrorClass is unusual that it uses 'CamelCase' names, contrary to our documented convention of preferring 'lower-case'. However, this enum is entrenched in the API; we cannot change what strings QMP outputs. Meanwhile, we want to simplify how c_enum_const() is used to generate enum constants, by moving away from the heuristics of camel_to_upper() to a more straightforward c_name(N).upper() - but doing so will rename all of the ErrorClass constants and cause churn to all client files, where the new names are aesthetically less pleasing (ERROR_CLASS_DEVICENOTFOUND looks like we can't make up our minds on whether to break between words). So as always in computer science, solve the problem by some more indirection: rename the qapi type to QapiErrorClass, and add a new enum ErrorClass in error.h whose members are aliases of the qapi type, but with the spelling expected elsewhere in the tree. Then, when c_enum_const() changes the munging, we only have to adjust the one alias spot. 2015-05-05qapi: Drop inline nested struct in query-versionEric Blake1-7/+19
A future patch will be using a 'name':{dictionary} entry in the QAPI schema to specify a default value for an optional argument (see previous commit message for more details why); but existing use of inline nested structs conflicts with that goal. This patch fixes one of only two commands relying on nested types, by breaking the nesting into an explicit type; it means that the type is now boxed instead of unboxed in C code, but the QMP wire format is unaffected by this change. Prefer the safer g_new0() while making the conversion. 2015-05-05qapi: Use 'struct' instead of 'type' in schemaEric Blake1-2/+2
Referring to "type" as both a meta-type (built-in, enum, union, alternate, or struct) and a specific type (the name that the schema uses for declaring structs) is confusing. Do the bulk of the conversion to "struct" in qapi schema, with a fairly mechanical: for f in `find -name '*.json'; do sed -i "s/'type'/'struct'/"; done followed by manually filtering out the places where we have a 'type' embedded in 'data'. Then tweak a couple of tests whose output changes slightly due to longer lines. I also verified that the generated files for QMP and QGA (such as qmp-commands.h) are the same before and after, as assurance that I didn't leave in any accidental member name changes.
