For this we've got to use the KVM_S390_INITIAL_RESET ioctl to make sure that the state in the kernel is set to the right values during initial CPU reset, too. s390 provides several CPU resets: - CPU reset, clears interrupts, stop processing, clears TLB, but does not touch registers - initial CPU reset, like CPU reset, but also clears PSW, prefix, FPC, timer and control registers. It does not touch gprs, fprs and acrs (!) - Power on reset: the full monty wire up CPUClass reset to the full monty, but provide the lesser resets as part of S390CPUClass. In order to implement this, the arch-specific part of dump-guest-memory was added: target-s390x/arch_dump.c contains the whole set of function for writing Elf note sections of all types for s390x. 2013-07-29cpu: Partially revert "cpu: Change qemu_init_vcpu() argument to CPUState"Andreas Färber1-2/+3
Commit c643bed99 moved qemu_init_vcpu() calls to common CPUState code. This causes x86 cpu-add to fail with "KVM: setting VAPIC address failed". The reason for the failure is that CPUClass::kvm_fd is not yet initialized in the following call graph: ->x86_cpu_realizefn ->x86_cpu_apic_realize ->qdev_init ->device_set_realized ->device_reset (hotplugged == 1) ->apic_reset_common ->vapic_base_update ->kvm_apic_vapic_base_update This causes attempted KVM vCPU ioctls to fail. By contrast, in the non-hotplug case the APIC is reset much later, when the vCPU is already initialized. As a quick and safe solution, move the qemu_init_vcpu() call back into the targets' realize functions. Moving them to qom/cpu.h was not yet possible due to convoluted include paths, so that some devices grow an implicit and unneeded dependency on qom/cpu.h for now.
