2015-09-13target-sh4: improve shad instructionAurelien Jarno1-31/+22
The SH4 shad instruction can shift in both direction, depending on the sign of the shift. This is currently implemented using branches, which is not really efficient and prevents the optimizer to do its job. In practice it is often used with a constant loaded in a register just before. Simplify the implementation by computing both the value shifted to the left and to the right, and then selecting the correct one with a movcond. As with a negative value the shift amount can go up to 32 which is undefined, we shift the value in two steps. 2015-09-13target-sh4: improve cmp/str instructionAurelien Jarno1-12/+5
Instead of testing bytes one by one, we can use the following trick from https://graphics.stanford.edu/~seander/bithacks.html: haszero(v) = (v - 0x01010101) & ~v & 0x80808080 The subexpression v - 0x01010101, evaluates to a high bit set in any byte whenever the corresponding byte in v is zero or greater than 0x80. The sub-expression ~v & 0x80808080 evaluates to high bits set in bytes where the byte of v doesn't have its high bit set (so the byte was less than 0x80). Finally, by ANDing these two sub-expressions the result is the high bits set where the bytes in v were zero, since the high bits set due to a value greater than 0x80 in the first sub-expression are masked off by the second. 2015-06-22disas: Remove uses of CPU envPeter Crosthwaite1-1/+1
disas does not need to access the CPU env for any reason. Change the APIs to accept CPU pointers instead. Small change pattern needs to be applied to all target translate.c. This brings us closer to making disas.o a common-obj and less architecture specific in general. Cc: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> Cc: Peter Maydell <peter.maydell@linaro.org> Cc: "Edgar E. 2015-03-13tcg: Change translator-side labels to a pointerRichard Henderson1-11/+11
This is improved type checking for the translators -- it's no longer possible to accidentally swap arguments to the branch functions. Note that the code generating backends still manipulate labels as int. With notable exceptions, the scope of the change is just a few lines for each target, so it's not worth building extra machinery to do this change in per-target increments. 2012-09-21target-sh4: rework exceptions handlingAurelien Jarno1-6/+12
Since commit fd4bab102 PC is restored in case of exception through code retranslation. While it is clearly the thing to do in case it is not not known if an helper is going to trigger an exception or not (e.g. for load/store, FPU, etc.), it just make things slower when the exception is already known at translation time. Partially revert this commit and save PC in the TCG code. Set bstate to BS_BRANCH to not generate TCG exit code. Micro-optimize the sleep helper. Make all the exception helpers to call raise_exception and mark it as noreturn. Signed-off-by: Aurelien Jarno <aurelien@aurel32.net>
