2016-03-18qapi: Don't special-case simple union wrappersEric Blake1-1/+1
Simple unions were carrying a special case that hid their 'data' QMP member from the resulting C struct, via the hack method QAPISchemaObjectTypeVariant.simple_union_type(). Using the implicit type also lets us get rid of the simple_union_type() hack. Of course, now all clients of simple unions have to adjust from using su->u.member to using su->u.member.data; while this touches a number of files in the tree, some earlier cleanup patches helped minimize the change to the initialization of a temporary variable rather than every single member access. 2015-11-02tpm: Convert to new qapi union layoutEric Blake1-2/+2
We have two issues with our qapi union layout: 1) Even though the QMP wire format spells the tag 'type', the C code spells it 'kind', requiring some hacks in the generator. 2) The C struct uses an anonymous union, which places all tag values in the same namespace as all non-variant members. This leads to spurious collisions if a tag value matches a non-variant member's name. Make the conversion to the new layout for TPM-related code. These macros expand into error class enumeration constant, comma, string. Unclean. Has been that way since commit 13f59ae. The error class is always ERROR_CLASS_GENERIC_ERROR since the previous commit. Clean up as follows: * Prepend every use of a QERR_ macro by ERROR_CLASS_GENERIC_ERROR, and delete it from the QERR_ macro. No change after preprocessing. * Rewrite error_set(ERROR_CLASS_GENERIC_ERROR, ...) into error_setg(...). Again, no change after preprocessing. qerror_report_err() is a transitional interface to help with converting existing monitor commands to QMP. It should not be used elsewhere. The only remaining user in qemu-option.c is qemu_opts_parse(). Is it used in QMP context? If not, we can simply replace qerror_report_err() by error_report_err(). The uses in qemu-img.c, qemu-io.c, qemu-nbd.c and under tests/ are clearly not in QMP context. The uses in vl.c aren't either, because the only QMP command handlers there are qmp_query_status() and qmp_query_machines(), and they don't call it. Remaining uses: * drive_def(): Command line -drive and such, HMP drive_add and pci_add * hmp_chardev_add(): HMP chardev-add * monitor_parse_command(): HMP core * tmp_config_parse(): Command line -tpmdev * net_host_device_add(): HMP host_net_add * net_client_parse(): Command line -net and -netdev * qemu_global_option(): Command line -global * vnc_parse_func(): Command line -display, -vnc, default display, HMP change, QMP change. Bummer. * qemu_pci_hot_add_nic(): HMP pci_add * usb_net_init(): Command line -usbdevice, HMP usb_add Propagate errors through qemu_opts_parse(). Create a convenience function qemu_opts_parse_noisily() that passes errors to error_report_err(). Switch all non-QMP users outside tests to it. That leaves vnc_parse_func(). Propagate errors through it. Since I'm touching it anyway, rename it to vnc_parse(). When the argument is non-zero, qemu_opts_foreach() stops on callback returning non-zero, and returns that value. When the argument is zero, it doesn't stop, and returns the bit-wise inclusive or of all the return values. Funky :) The callers that pass zero could just as well pass one, because their callbacks can't return anything but zero: * qemu_add_globals()'s callback qdev_add_one_global() * qemu_config_write()'s callback config_write_opts() * main()'s callbacks default_driver_check(), drive_enable_snapshot(), vnc_init_func() Drop the parameter, and always stop. error_is_set(&var) is the same as var != NULL, but it takes whole-program analysis to figure that out. Unnecessarily hard for optimizers, static checkers, and human readers. Dumb it down to obvious. 2013-07-29tpm.c: Don't try to put -1 in a variable of type TpmModelPeter Maydell1-2/+2
The TpmModel type is an enum (valid values 0 and 1), which means the compiler can legitimately decide that comparisons like 'tpm_models[i] == -1' are never true. (For example it could pick 'unsigned char' as its type for representing the enum.) Avoid this issue by using TPM_MODEL_MAX to mark entries in the tpm_models[] array which aren't filled in, instead of -1. The TPM subsystem does not have a full front-end/back-end separation. The sole available backend, tpm_passthrough, depends on the data structures of the sole available frontend, tpm_tis. However, we can at least try to split the user interface (tpm.c) from the implementation (hw/tpm).
