2018-01-20default-configs/ppc64-softmmu: Include 32-bit configs instead of copying themThomas Huth1-53/+8
qemu-softmmu-ppc64 is supposed to be a superset of qemu-softmmu-ppc. However, instead of simply including the 32-bit config file, we've duplicated all CONFIG_xxx settings there instead. This way, we've missed some CONFIG switches in ppc64-softmmu.mak which were only added to the 32-bit config file (e.g. CONFIG_SUNGEM). Let's fix this problem by including the 32-bit config file into the 64-bit config file instead of duplicating all the CONFIG switches there. 2017-02-06Split serial-isa into its own config optionDavid Gibson1-0/+1
At present, the core device model code for 8250-like serial ports (serial.c) and the code for serial ports attached to ISA-style legacy IO (serial-isa.c) are both controlled by the CONFIG_SERIAL variable. There are lots and lots of embedded platforms that have 8250-like serial ports but have never had anything resembling ISA legacy IO. Therefore, split serial-isa into its own CONFIG_SERIAL_ISA option so it can be disabled for platforms where it's not appropriate. For now, I enabled CONFIG_SERIAL_ISA in every default-config where CONFIG_SERIAL is enabled, excepting microblaze, or32, and xtensa. As best as I can tell, those platforms never used legacy ISA, and also don't include PCI support (which would allow connection of a PCI->ISA bridge and/or a southbridge including legacy ISA serial ports). 2016-10-28ppc/pnv: add skeleton PowerNV platformBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-0/+1
The goal is to emulate a PowerNV system at the level of the skiboot firmware, which loads the OS and provides some runtime services. Power Systems have a lower firmware (HostBoot) that does low level system initialization, like DRAM training. This is beyond the scope of what qemu will address in a PowerNV guest. No devices yet, not even an interrupt controller. Just to get started, some RAM to load the skiboot firmware, the kernel and initrd. The device tree is fully created in the machine reset op. 2015-02-27Create specific config option for "platform-bus"David Gibson1-0/+1
Currently the "platform-bus" device is included for all softmmu builds. This bridge is intended for use on any platforms that require dynamic creation of sysbus devices. However, at present it is used only for the PPC E500 target, with plans for the ARM "virt" target in the immediate future. To avoid a not-very-useful entry appearing in "qemu -device ?" output on other targets, this patch makes a specific config option for platform-bus and enables it (for now) only on ppc configurations which include E500 and on ARM (which always includes the "virt" target). We messed up the ordering in our default configs for PPC. The top entries are generic entries, then come sections that indicate that features are only in because of a special feature (such as PReP). 2013-10-25xics-kvm: Support for in-kernel XICS interrupt controllerDavid Gibson1-0/+1
Recent (host) kernels support emulating the PAPR defined "XICS" interrupt controller system within KVM. This patch allows qemu to initialize and configure the in-kernel XICS, and keep its state in sync with qemu's XICS state as necessary. This should give considerable performance improvements. e.g. on a simple IPI ping-pong test between hardware threads, using qemu XICS gives us around 5,000 irqs/second, whereas the in-kernel XICS gives us around 70,000 irqs/s on the same hardware configuration. 2013-07-04pci: Cleanup configuration for pci-hotplug.cDavid Gibson1-2/+0
pci-hotplug.c and the CONFIG_PCI_HOTPLUG variable which controls its compilation are misnamed. They're not about PCI hotplug in general, but rather about the pci_add/pci_del interface which are now deprecated in favour of the more general device_add/device_del interface. This patch therefore renames them to pci-hotplug-old.c and CONFIG_PCI_HOTPLUG_OLD. CONFIG_PCI_HOTPLUG=y was listed twice in {i386,x86_64}-softmmu.make for no particular reason, so we clean that up too. In addition it was included in ppc64-softmmu.mak for which the old hotplug interface was never used and is unsuitable, so we remove that too. Most of pci-hotplug.c was additionaly protected by #ifdef TARGET_I386. The small piece which wasn't is only called from the pci_add and pci_del hooks in hmp-commands.hx, which themselves were protected by #ifdef TARGET_I386. This patch therefore also removes the #ifdef from pci-hotplug-old.c, and changes the ifdefs in hmp-commands.hx to use CONFIG_PCI_HOTPLUG_OLD. Enables support for the in-kernel MPIC that thas been merged into the KVM next branch. This includes irqfd/KVM_IRQ_LINE support from Alex Graf (along with some other improvements). Note from Alex regarding kvm_irqchip_create(): On x86, one would call kvm_irqchip_create() to initialize an in-kernel interrupt controller. That function then goes ahead and initializes global capability variables as well as the default irq routing table. On ppc, we can't call kvm_irqchip_create() because we can have different types of interrupt controllers. So we want to do all the things that function would do for us in the in-kernel device init handler. Exceptions: - bluetooth: not qdevified yet, has a vl.c dependency because of that, thus disabling isn't as easy as not linking the object file. - smardcard: ccid-card-emulated depends on that one *and* CONFIG_SMARTCARD_NSS. We can't however replace the built-in IDE controller, as the one in pc87312 is only single-channel and can use only IRQ 14. Therefore the pc87312's IDE function gets disabled via the config property.
