2018-05-07pc-dimm: factor out MemoryDevice interfaceDavid Hildenbrand2-3/+3
On the qmp level, we already have the concept of memory devices: "query-memory-devices" Right now, we only support NVDIMM and PCDIMM. We want to map other devices later into the address space of the guest. Such device could e.g. be virtio devices. These devices will have a guest memory range assigned but won't be exposed via e.g. ACPI. We want to make them look like memory device, but not glued to pc-dimm. Especially, it will not always be possible to have TYPE_PC_DIMM as a parent class (e.g. virtio devices). Let's use an interface instead. As a first part, convert handling of - qmp_pc_dimm_device_list - get_plugged_memory_size to our new model. plug/unplug stuff etc. will follow later. A memory device will have to provide the following functions: - get_addr(): Necessary, as the property "addr" can e.g. not be used for virtio devices (already defined). - get_plugged_size(): The amount this device offers to the guest as of now. - get_region_size(): Because this can later on be bigger than the plugged size. - fill_device_info(): Fill MemoryDeviceInfo, e.g. for qmp. 2018-03-02qapi: Empty out qapi-schema.jsonMarkus Armbruster3-3/+3
The previous commit improved compile time by including less of the generated QAPI headers. This is impossible for stuff defined directly in qapi-schema.json, because that ends up in headers that that pull in everything. Move everything but include directives from qapi-schema.json to new sub-module qapi/misc.json, then include just the "misc" shard where possible. It's possible everywhere, except: * monitor.c needs qmp-command.h to get qmp_init_marshal() * monitor.c, ui/vnc.c and the generated qapi-event-FOO.c need qapi-event.h to get enum QAPIEvent Perhaps we'll get rid of those some other day. Adding a type to qapi/migration.json now recompiles some 120 instead of 2300 out of 5100 objects. 2018-03-02Include less of the generated modular QAPI headersMarkus Armbruster1-1/+2
In my "build everything" tree, a change to the types in qapi-schema.json triggers a recompile of about 4800 out of 5100 objects. The previous commit split up qmp-commands.h, qmp-event.h, qmp-visit.h, qapi-types.h. Each of these headers still includes all its shards. Reduce compile time by including just the shards we actually need. To illustrate the benefits: adding a type to qapi/migration.json now recompiles some 2300 instead of 4800 objects. The next commit will improve it further. 2017-09-08hw/acpi: Move acpi_set_pci_info to pcihpAnthony PERARD2-0/+7
HW part of ACPI PCI hotplug in QEMU depends on ACPI_PCIHP_PROP_BSEL being set on a PCI bus that supports ACPI hotplug. It should work regardless of the source of ACPI tables (QEMU generator/legacy SeaBIOS/Xen). So move ACPI_PCIHP_PROP_BSEL initialization into HW ACPI implementation part from QEMU's ACPI table generator. To do PCI passthrough with Xen, the property ACPI_PCIHP_PROP_BSEL needs to be set, but this was done only when ACPI tables are built which is not needed for a Xen guest. The need for the property starts with commit "pc: pcihp: avoid adding ACPI_PCIHP_PROP_BSEL twice" (f0c9d64a68b776374ec4732424a3e27753ce37b6). Adding find_i440fx into stubs so that mips-softmmu target can be built. 2017-02-28migrate: Introduce a 'dc->vmsd' check to avoid segfault for --only-migratableAshijeet Acharya1-0/+6
Commit a3a3d8c7 introduced a segfault bug while checking for 'dc->vmsd->unmigratable' which caused QEMU to crash when trying to add devices which do no set their 'dc->vmsd' yet while initialization. Place a 'dc->vmsd' check prior to it so that we do not segfault for such devices. NOTE: This doesn't compromise the functioning of --only-migratable option as all the unmigratable devices do set their 'dc->vmsd'. Introduce a new function check_migratable() and move the only_migratable check inside it, also use stubs to avoid user-mode qemu build failures. AioContext is fairly self contained, the only dependency is QEMUTimer but that in turn doesn't need anything else. So move them out of block-obj-y to avoid introducing a dependency from io/ to block-obj-y. main-loop and its dependency iohandler also need to be moved, because later in this series io/ will call iohandler_get_aio_context. 2016-10-30COLO: Add 'x-colo-lost-heartbeat' command to trigger failoverzhanghailiang1-0/+8
We leave users to choose whatever heartbeat solution they want, if the heartbeat is lost, or other errors they detect, they can use experimental command 'x_colo_lost_heartbeat' to tell COLO to do failover, COLO will do operations accordingly. For example, if the command is sent to the Primary side, the Primary side will exit COLO mode, does cleanup work, and then, PVM will take over the service work. If sent to the Secondary side, the Secondary side will run failover work, then takes over PVM's service work. 2016-10-30migration: Switch to COLO process after finishing loadvmzhanghailiang1-0/+10
Switch from normal migration loadvm process into COLO checkpoint process if COLO mode is enabled. We add three new members to struct MigrationIncomingState, 'have_colo_incoming_thread' and 'colo_incoming_thread' record the COLO related thread for secondary VM, 'migration_incoming_co' records the original migration incoming coroutine. 2016-10-30migration: Enter into COLO mode after migration if COLO is enabledzhanghailiang1-0/+9
Add a new migration state: MIGRATION_STATUS_COLO. Migration source side enters this state after the first live migration successfully finished if COLO is enabled by command 'migrate_set_capability x-colo on'. We reuse migration thread, so the process of checkpointing will be handled in migration thread. 2016-10-30migration: Introduce capability 'x-colo' to migrationzhanghailiang2-0/+20
We add helper function colo_supported() to indicate whether colo is supported or not, with which we use to control whether or not showing 'x-colo' string to users, they can use qmp command 'query-migrate-capabilities' or hmp command 'info migrate_capabilities' to learn if colo is supported. The default value for COLO (COarse-Grain LOck Stepping) is disabled. 2016-10-12trace: remove global 'uint16 dstate[]' arrayDaniel P. Berrange1-5/+4
Instead of having a global dstate array, declare a single 'uint16 TRACE_${EVENT_NAME}_DSTATE' variable for each trace event. Record a pointer to this variable in the TraceEvent struct too. By turning trace_event_get_state_dynamic_by_id into a macro, this still hits the fast path, and cache affinity is ensured by declaring all the uint16 vars adjacent to each other.
